Hi and welcome to my online home! I am a photographer located in Phoenix, Arizona. I'm married to my wonderful hubby, Jon, and we have 7 fur babies: Kitty Amazing, Baby Kitty, Petunia, and China, our cats, Hank and Seymour, our dogs, and Junichiro, our hedgehog. Admittedly, Junichiro is more of a spiky baby than a fur baby. I love travel, nutella, donuts, cupcakes, (okay just bring me all the carbs alright?), reading, green tea, soccer, dancing, and soft pillow cases. I love having you, I hope you stay awhile.
I am convinced that laughter is the glue for all the most important marriages throughout history.
Wondering what famous poet said that? It was me, just now. It’s about time someone started quoting me ya know?
But seriously, I firmly believe this is truth. Because if you are enjoying life together, laughing through the mistakes and ups and downs, and holding tight to each other in the process, then you don’t have time for the other stuff that covers the beautiful things in darkness.
And if laughter is the glue of marriage, then these two have got enough for a few lifetimes, and perhaps some extra to spare for the rest of us! From my first meeting with them, they were kind, gracious, funny, down to Earth, and I couldn’t stop thinking to myself how blessed I felt to be attracting these kinds of clients to my business. If people this amazing are wanting to spend time with me on their most special day, then I most be doing something right.
After nearly a year of planning and waiting, (and purchasing a house and bringing a baby pup into their lives), the big day was finally here. And it. did. not. disappoint. people. It was the perfect venue of green grass, roses, rhododendrons bushes upon bushes, overlooking the Hood Canal right in the middle of the cutest little seaside town ever, Port Gamble. And if it feels like I didn’t breathe while I wrote that last sentence, that’s because I didn’t. Because there is too much excitement and gorgeousness to share and not enough time!
As I stood near the alter photographing the ceremony, I saw Jake’s face wet with tears. Then I looked around. And I saw Kelly’s parents tears. And Jake’s families emotions. And I have to be honest, I nearly lost it too. I felt so much love and pure joy during that ceremony starting from the way Kelly’s dad looked at his beautiful daughter as she walked to the man of her dreams.
Okay I need to stop because I’m getting teary eyed again! I know a lot of you are feeling me on that one.
But then they popped over for their favorite beers before we wandered off for portraits, and I thought to myself, I just love these two. And then let us do weird fashionable photos in front of garages and flowers, and totally put their trust in me. I can’t thank you both enough for that; for giving me the room to experiment and capture your uniqueness on this day.
Now, as I watch longingly at your instagram stories as Jake wears button down banana print shirts and the two of you drink mai tai’s for days, I know that you two will be just fine. And I can’t wait to see you both flourish together for the next bazillion years and then some. <3<3 insert all the heart and love emojis that have ever existed here 😉
