Hi and welcome to my online home! I am a photographer located in Phoenix, Arizona. I'm married to my wonderful hubby, Jon, and we have 7 fur babies: Kitty Amazing, Baby Kitty, Petunia, and China, our cats, Hank and Seymour, our dogs, and Junichiro, our hedgehog. Admittedly, Junichiro is more of a spiky baby than a fur baby. I love travel, nutella, donuts, cupcakes, (okay just bring me all the carbs alright?), reading, green tea, soccer, dancing, and soft pillow cases. I love having you, I hope you stay awhile.
“The best love is the kind that awakens the soul, that makes us reach for more, that plants the fire in our hearts and brings peace to our minds. That is what I hope to give you forever.” -The Notebook
As I wound up the steep mountain road leading up to Trinity Tree Farms in Issaquah, Washington, I was surrounded by nostalgia. Only four miles from my high school, I traveled to Jacquelyn and Rick’s wedding amidst a forest of Pine Trees and a silent mist-like downpour. It was the kind of day that winter in Seattle is known for. And it was also Halloween.
In my mind, this is what you want for your Halloween wedding in Seattle. And I think the lovely portraits of the couple amidst the trees as rain continued to fall speak for themselves.
Jacquelyn and Rick’s love story began two years ago when they met through a mutual friend. Since then, they have parented their adorable three dogs together (all of which got to enjoy the wedding day fun!). Rick’s chihuahua, Snickers, even made a front row appearance during the ceremony and got his own first dance!
Rick proposed to Jacquelyn outside her first ever Seattle Seahawks game, which of course the Seahawks ended up winning. 😉 For all you Seahawks’ fans, this was the same game Kenny Easley received his ring and saw his number retired as a Seattle Seahawk! I being a devoted 12th man myself, truly appreciate the beauty of this proposal. In fact, I think if my parents decided to renew their vows, they would probably do so at a Seahawks’ game. Such is the devotion of my family… lol
On the day of their wedding, Jacquelyn had Rick’s Mother put on a necklace which she had purchased for the bride. As Rick’s Mother took the necklace with shaking hands, filled with emotion, I took a moment to think about the beauty of what was happening. Rick’s Mother was so happy thinking not just of her son’s wedding day, but of who she was gaining as a daughter.
Rick and Jacquelyn have a quiet joy that has a calming effect on those around them. Just the way they look at each other, share smiles reserved only for each other, and always have a kind word for one another. During our wet portrait session, they did not complain once, and they were happen to carry on twirling, smiling, and enjoying their day even if it was raining. I absolutely love this about them.
The first dances were also once of my favorite memories from the day. Both Jacquelyn and her mom and Rick and his mom danced to their favorite songs and had some epic dance moves along the way such as the cue-tip, crab moves from Hitch, and other classic throwbacks. Okay, who am I kidding I probably made up those two names, but I think the moves in the images below speak for themselves.
The couples day was filled with endless laughter and fun. I’m so happy to have been a part of it, and I can’t wait to see where their journey together takes them!!
